They can also have an equally as damaging an affect on the individuals life, and also the lives of those close to them, as any substance addiction does. The term ‘Process Addiction’ covers a wide variety of addictions, including those listed below which are the most common of them, where the principle of addiction is exactly the same as with any addiction to alcohol or drugs but no addictive substance is involved. The brain releases very similar chemicals as it does when a substance is used so the behaviour has the same pleasurable effect. This pleasurable feeling then forces the person to seek out more and more of the ‘pleasurable’ behaviour regardless of the consequences to them or to anyone around them. An addiction can literally be to anything and doesn’t necessarily need to be doing you any actual physical harm at all, however the other harms, those that are also related to a physical addiction to something, such as finances, relationships, a lack of social life etc. are all the same.

The special 'CapeRecovery Process Addiction Treatment Experience' works for all our clients who require Behavioural Addiction Treatment including Gambling Addiction Treatment, Sex Addiction Treatment, Love Addiction Treatment, Porn Addiction Treatment, Gaming Addiction Treatment and all the other types of closely related addictions. It begins with a relatively short period, usually 21 days or a month of primary rehab, in which the client will begin to learn all about their own specific addiction and addiction in general. It also serves as a way of physically removing the client from any triggers related to the specific behaviour (i.e. people, credit cards and cash, computers, smartphones and tablets). They will then be an integral part of a mixed group of people who are all suffering and in the process of dealing with a variety of different and also similar addictions and they will engage in a busy program of counselling, group work along with top quality trauma work and many other activities, all specifically designed to address any underlying issues and educate the client about how to begin moving forward towards living a ‘normal’ life, one completely free from the chains of addiction. Following this initial month, we then offer different options of secondary rehab or, in order to make the money go that little bit further, an longer, extended stay in our excellent supported sober living house. During this sober living time, the client will be encouraged to play an active part in many social events and meetings with the vibrant Cape Town Recovery Community and join in with all the additional activities that we offer. We have a wide selection including guided walks, personal training, Yoga and Surfing lessons on the beautiful beaches of Cape Town and also a variety of incredible volunteering opportunities to make this part of their stay the most unique, complete and fully involved, recovery experience available anywhere in the world!
