Primary, Extended Care and Sober Living Experience
(3 months – 1 year)
Following the initial detox and full primary rehab, we then find and transport the client to the most appropriate extended care facility specifically for their requirements. Our impartial and fully independent status means that we are in a truly unique position to make a choice based purely on what is the best move for the clients well being. Again, during this stage, we continue to make regular visits and to update the family back home on the clients progress.
Once the client is comfortably in a position to move forward with a bit more independence and freedom, then they can start finding some real joy in recovery. At this stage, we select only the finest sober living environment in which they can mix socially with the vibrant Cape Town Recovery Community and engage in some fun things, such as enjoying the incredible array of breath-taking Cape Town beaches, surfing, guided walks and even yoga classes, in addition to getting involved with a large choice of voluntary opportunities. I believe that this particular period is the single most important part of a persons overall recovery. The point at which they put everything learnt in rehab into action and this extended period of living clean is the ideal transition to ‘normal’ life before returning home.
Once the client is all set for their return home, we again arrange transport to the airport and even stay in close contact in order to offer support and advice around maintaining their recovery whilst they are getting used to being back at home and settling into a clean and sober and ultimately happy life.
